{"id":1686,"date":"2014-07-03T23:40:13","date_gmt":"2014-07-04T03:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/covingtonestateshoa.com\/?p=1686"},"modified":"2014-07-03T23:41:57","modified_gmt":"2014-07-04T03:41:57","slug":"summer-safety-tips-as-we-approach-fourth-of-july-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/covingtonestateshoa.com\/?p=1686","title":{"rendered":"Summer Safety Tips as We Approach Fourth of July Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the Fourth of July weekend approaching and summer in full swing, Hillsborough County urges residents to be safe while lighting or watching fireworks, at a cookout, and dealing with those pesky mosquitoes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Below are a few tips to follow and precautions to protect yourself, your family, your home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fireworks Safety<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Fireworks should only be used outdoors.<\/li>\n<li>Parents should not allow young children to handle or use fireworks.<\/li>\n<li>Children should not pick up spent fireworks, as the fireworks may still be active.<\/li>\n<li>Leave pets at home and indoors during festive fireworks celebrations.<\/li>\n<li>Know your fireworks; read the caution label before igniting, and light only one firework at a time.<\/li>\n<li>Wear safety glasses whenever using fireworks, and keep a bucket of water nearby.<\/li>\n<li>Soak spent fireworks with water before placing them in an outdoor, fire-resistant garbage can away from buildings and flammable materials.<!--more--><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Mosquito Control<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Dump any water collected in flower pots, gutters, toys, buckets, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Discard any items that are being stored outdoors and that aren&#8217;t being used.<\/li>\n<li>Empty and clean birdbaths and pet water bowls at least once a week.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the water balance of swimming pools.<\/li>\n<li>Cover doors and windows with screens to keep mosquitoes out of your house.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Grilling Safety<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Only use your grill outside.<\/li>\n<li>Wear short sleeves or roll them up when cooking on the grill.<\/li>\n<li>Use long-handled barbecue tools.<\/li>\n<li>Keep a 3-foot safe zone around grills, fire pits and campfires.
