Water Restrictions Return to One Day Per Week

Tighter water restrictions, including limiting lawn watering to once a week, will be in effect in Hillsborough County starting Dec. 26.

The Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Governing Board enacted the tighter restrictions in Hillsborough county due to below normal rainfall, reduced river levels and increasing water supply concerns.

The tighter restrictions are in place until at least March 1, 2014. More aggressive water shortage action may become necessary, including stringent enforcement, such as issuing a citation without first issuing a warning.

For complete information on these restrictions visit our Water Restrictions page.

Cart Size Choice – After January 15, 2014

two-cartsResidents are encouraged to “test drive” the new roll carts until January 15, 2014. This period will cover the holiday season, a time of year when larger amounts of garbage and recyclables are generated and more capacity generally is needed. At the conclusion of the “test drive,” if a resident wants to exchange a roll cart, a one-time size change at no charge can be arranged by contacting your Franchise Collector from January 15, 2014 – March 15, 2014. Roll cart size changes after the January 15, 2014 – March 15, 2014 “swap out” period will incur a $30 charge each.
